Top 5 Gifts for Teacher Appreciation Week 2010
Put that apple back in your fruit basket… teachers these days are in need of a little more than keeping the doctor away. In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week 2010, let’s take a look at our top five gifts for teachers:
- Gift certificates. Treat your teach with some free movies, dinners, or even spa visits. For potential date activities, make sure the gift certificates will also cover the costs of a spouse or significant other.
- Memberships. Giving a membership is a great way to share the love for a whole year. Consider a museum or art house membership, or even a yearly premium account on a useful website such a Flickr.
- Books. Books are almost as difficult to shop for as clothes, so only give your teacher a book if you’re sure it’s something he or she is interested in. Alternatively, you can buy a useful reference book to be used by the entire class.
- Classroom supplies. Although teaching supplies are theoretically covered by schools, educators often wind up paying out of pocket for certain learning materials. Help them out by investing in arts and crafts supplies, learning aids, etc.
- Apples…? OK, we lied. Apples are acceptable gifts, but not if you pick them up at the supermarket. For a thoughtful twist on this classic present, pick the apples yourself at a local farm — you’ll be able to find some more interesting apple varieties as well, not just Red Delicious.
