Masters 2010: Tiger Woods Nike Commercial, and Possibly Some Golf
As the Masters golf tournament 2010 heats up in Augusta, a concurrent battle has launched in the media — should we talk about drama… or golf?
In one corner are those devotees sick of hearing about Tiger Woods the scandal-maker and eager for news of Tiger Woods the golfer. For them, hopefully, the Masters coverage will ideally focus on, well, the Masters 2010, which are shaping up to be very interesting.
Just check out this quote from The Daily Mail’s Masters coverage:
Only two out of 40 golf writers polled by the Augusta Chronicle yesterday thought Tiger would win. Normally, it’s only about two who don’t.
The counterpoint, of course, is drama. People love it. Tiger Woods’ bodyguards are combing the crowds for various mistresses that might be in attendance, as news surfaces about Tiger Woods neighbors daughter, linking the pro to a 22-year-old down the block.
Not to mention, of course, the super-eerie Tiger Woods Nike commercial (above), featuring the voice of his late father. If this is advertisers’ best effort at humanizing Tiger, maybe it is best to focus on the golf…
