KFC Double Down Chicken Sandwich: Do You Dare?
Dubbed a “must-to-avoid” by NYT’s head food critic, the KFC Double Down Chicken Sandwich is the latest gimmick on the fast food scene.
If the term sandwich describes any food item featuring stuff between more stuff, then the KFC Double Down Chicken Sandwich qualifies, although any bread and/or bun is curiously absent. Instead, KFC offers two breaded pieces of chicken to stand in as the outer layer of stuff.
The KFC Double Down Chicken Sandwich comes in a wrapper, but we suspect consuming it involves an unappetizing amount of finger-to-chicken contact just the same.
Nutrition info (or lack thereof) is as follows:
Calories: 540 (460 grilled)
Fat: 32 grams (23 grilled)
Sodium: 1,380 milligrams (1,430 grilled)
We can feel our waistbands buckling.
Still, The L.A. Times points out that the Double Down is only as unhealthy as its peers — the Big Mac, for example, is only slightly better with 540 calories packing 29 grams of fat.
